ADDITIONAL TANKS IN T3
Those of you who want to go on a trip will probably have to deal with the issue of water and fuel supplies. So where to put them? On the roof, in the interior, at the back of the tailgate, trailer.....?
That's kind of how we did it - at least at the beginning. I remember water in 10 x 5-litre bottles and fuel in canisters on the roof (they were never 100% leak-proof).
So at some point we started to build additional tanks for our buses. We did this in such a way that they fit into the underbody of the T3 and do not affect its ground clearance.
These tanks can be used for water and fuel. They are filled using a corresponding filler, which is also available. The tanks can be installed on the left or right. They each have a capacity of 80 litres. Depending on the medium, the contents are either pumped into the vehicle tank or into a water pipe using a corresponding pump.
Like our other parts, these tanks are only produced to order and in limited quantities. We also use stainless steel as the material here - but in different grades for fuels and water.
The tanks are supplied as a complete package with filler, pump and hoses. Installation instructions are included.

This set contains everything necessary for installation and operation, including pump and hoses. The tanks are installed under the bus between the side rails without drilling holes in the bodywork; a hole only needs to be cut in the bodywork to install the filler neck. The tanks are filled using the filler neck supplied, which is installed at the front on the right or left as in the 2WD.
In the VW T3 Syncro, installation on the right-hand side is recommended as the filler neck for the main tank is also on the right. However, the tank can also be installed on the left and the filler on the right. Both variants are possible.
The ground clearance is not restricted as the tank is still located above the propshaft protection tubes. If required, the fuel is pumped into the main tank via the pump. A tank sensor is available as an option, where the fuel level can be called up via the original display in the speedometer using a switch.
As permanently installed tanks must be entered in the vehicle documents by the TÜV, it is advisable to consult the inspector.
